Vocational Training Print

Technical education is one of the largest sectors of education at the tertiary level, training middle level technicians for Managerial and supervisory work in the organised and rural industries. This sector of education has witnessed phenomenal growth during the past four decades and is poised for further expansion in the context of the new imperatives and thrust of New Educational Policy 1986. Students desire to acquire useful information about job opportunities available in organised and unorganized sectors. They often encounter difficulties in getting such information and deciding about taking up the right type of job appropriate to their acquired knowledge and skills, resulting in frustration. Hence an organised career guidance and vocational training programme in educational Institutions may be of great help to students to solve these problems.

Objectives: The Centre has the following objectives:
To help the students in identifying their talents, interest and skill towards a particular job or work.

  • To make the students aware of the useful and employment potential courses of study.
  • To give information about the various vocational training available.
  • To make efforts in imparting vocational training to students.
  • To make our students aware of the Self-employment avenues offered by the District Industrial Centre, Tirunelveli.
  • To give proper guidance to students appearing for competitive examinations of T.N.P.S.C., Railway Recruitment Board, Staff Selection Commission, etc.
  • To create awareness among the women students about the Social Welfare Schemes available exclusively for the uplift of women.
  • To help the girl students to avail of the above schemes.
  • To conduct mock interviews.
  • To help the students in getting placement in private.
