State Level Youth Festival Print

M.S.University selected our College to conduct the State-Level Youth Festival in the year 1993. About 800 volunteers drawn from various places of Tamilnadu participated. Folk Dance, Devarattam, Karagattam and other cultural events were performed by the participants.International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March 1995 in our College. Selvan Sivakumar of II B. A. Tamil attended a Special NSS camp, held at Annamalai University , Annamali Nagar, from 16.03.1995 to 26.03.1995. Five women volunteers attended the International Women’s Day Celebration held on 20.03.1995, at M.S.University. Prof.S.Sudalaiyandi and Prof.S.Ramachandran took charge as NSS Programme Officers of Unit Nos.41 and 42 respectively. A ten-day Special Camp was held at Pappankulam Village from 1.12.1996 to 10.12.1996. During this camp volunteers planted saplings, cleaned roads and organized a literacy campaign. A ten-day Special camp was organized at V.K.Puram at P.L.W.A. Primary School , V.K.Puram, from 16.6.1997 to 25.6.1997. The volunteers carried out various social activities for the benefit of the people. A Committee of NSS, M.S.University, visited the College on 1st September 1997 and appreciated the functioning of the NSS Units of the College. Prof.S.Ramachandran, NSS P.O of Unit 42, was nominated to a Committee formed for the preparation of the NSS Manual.

The valedictory function of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of India’s Independence was celebrated on 15th August 1998 at Pothigaiadi and Dana, the adopted villages. Prof. S.Ramachandran, NSS P.O. of Unit 42, was nominated as a member of the District-Level Advisory Committee. A ten-day Special camp was conducted at Papanasam from 27.1.1999 to 5.2.1999. A deep bore well and drinking water facility was sanctioned to the College under Namakku Naame Thittam. Prof. S.Sudalaiyandi, NSS P.O. of Unit 41, was selected to pursue a Certificate Course on “ Youth and Development” offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University. A new Unit exclusively for women was sanctioned to our College on 3.9.1999. Prof.S.Palaniammal was the First Woman Programme Officer of the Unit No 46. Prof. S.Sudalaiyandi, NSS P.O. of Unit 41, attended the National Integration Camp held at Kerala from 26th August 1999 to 2nd September 1999 as a representative of M.S.University along with 10 volunteers.
